I am new to the forum. Picked up a 1981 Honda GL1100 Interstate. Been 30 years since I worked on a bike. Learning all over again. I replaced the thermostat and I would like to replace the sensor for the Rad Fan. I am not sure where it is located.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Right side of the bike, right behind the fan. Look at the upper right engine mount bolt head, it is beyond that. One black, one green with yellow(?) stripe going to a rubber boot connector. The boot pulls off, and the sensor can be removed with the appropriately sized socket after you've drained the coolant.
Pretty easy to get to on a standard if you have some long pliers to remove the boot.
To refill the coolant, I've always removed the false tank.

Re: Radiator Fax Thermostat
Dingdong. Thanks for the reply. I was testing the the cooling system. I noticed when it got close to red line on the Temp gauge the fan never spun up. I also had coolant pushing out of the overflow tube.
I pulled the Rad, as I would like to take a look at the time belts while I am doing this maintenance. I replaced the other thermostat beside this one. I thought it would be best to replace it now rather than later if a flush doesn't correct the issue.
