GL1100 Parts

Post by oswoody » Wed Jan 01, 2020 7:49 am

Could anyone direct me to a source for parts, new or used, for my 1981 GL110 I ? It seems that finding parts is quite a chore and I am having difficulty finding a good source for chrome pieces or reproduction pieces or even used parts. Seems they are extremely limited. Any help would be appreciated. By the way I am looking mainly for parts such as Carb intakes, chrome head covers and gaskets, engine parts etc.. Thanks for any help.

The Chrome pieces are hard to find as most of the suppliers have long discontinued those parts so used will be your options. Anything chrome may be pitting now from lack of protection from moisture and rust happening.

Actually, most of the suppliers of chrome and other accessories for the GL1100 (most notably Markland) no longer even exist!

Thank you. It is making me really wish I didn't own my Goldwing. I love to ride it but no one will work on it and finding parts is horrible. And unfortunately, because of this, it makes it incredibly difficult to sell. Since potential buyers know about the parts problem.

You can get your parts chrome plated still.
They can re-chrome the parts also.

EBAY is your friend for after market accessories. I use Western Honda.com for oem parts .
I don't care about chrome so do not worry about it. Have a small mc shop near by that works on all bikes and will work on my GL1100. You should learn to do routine services yourself to know the machine. Google all Goldwing sites as I monitor 3 others and they have for sale sites. I've owned 4 GL1100's since 1985 and run a sidecar. Parts are there but you have to search.

The nice thing about aluminum is you can polish it to bring it back to life rather than chrome. I polished my intakes and carb caps.

Thanks to all for the helpful hints about finding used or new parts for my GL1100. I am going to take the advise about polishing the aluminum. Any recommendations on a good aluminum polish? Also, I do an awful lot of my own wrenching. I just got a pretty good carb synchronizer and I do have all of the manuals. But it has been very tricky getting the carbs right. I might attempt a carb rebuild. Thanks everyone for making this a great place to exchange ideas.

I used the Randakk's rebuild kit on my GL1100. Bench synced them, it ran 95 % .....then synced them on the bike while runnin with a cheep gauge set and it now runs 100%.
