81 GL1100 rear foot peg help

Post by Mikegl1100 » Fri Jan 17, 2020 4:22 am

Removing rear floorboards from 81 GL1100 pic 1 going to naked look with original foot peg pic 2 while removing the Vetter rear package I ran into after removing the floorboards at the brackets so I can get to the last bracket that holds the Vetter package to the frame the main bracket that secures the floorboards/pegs has to be removed as well, my question is, is there a special way to get that bolt out of the bracket as I cannot get a socket to fit in between the sides of the bracket. special wrench socket?

A thin walled socket, perhaps? That would be my first guess.

I'm not sure which bolt you're talking about, but from the pics, it appears to me that taking it apart in pieces would be the way to go. Can you remove the long bolt that the board pivots on first? That would give you direct access to the other one. Or am I all wet?
