Decided to tear into my 1980 gl1100 once again. I did a limited cleaning on the carbs and by the end of the season it was leaking gas everywhere but it was running fairly well. Then I discovered the tank had lots of rust. Now iam going to do it all over again with no shortcuts. Now the carbs are getting rebuilt with Randakks master carb kit and derusting the tank again . I would like to coat the inside of the tank but not sure what that would do to the screens in the tank. I have the por 15 tank kit. Any suggestions? Should have done all of this the first time. Pics on the way.

Re: Tearing down my gl1100. Again
I managed to get the carbs finished. I was amazed at how dirty they were. The floats were so far off I dont know how it ran at all. The cheap gaskets I used last year pretty much all failed and explains why I had so many leaks. Now this time i separated all the carbs and made sure everything was clean and sparkled. I feel pretty confident i have it this time. Lesson learned to not take shortcuts and do it right the first time.
