Aux cord to Clarion Type I thoughts

Post by poppadre »

I am getting ready to fire up the GL1100 in hopes that it will finally warm up in Montreal. I have also recently picked up and old iPod that I wanted to load up with music for road trips. I was thinking it would be great if I could hook up my iPod to play though the speakers on my GL1100. After doing a bit of research I was thinking I could make this work with some extra cables, and was hoping to get some thoughts from everyone. I wanted to keep the ability of adjusting the iPod volume on the bike. So here are my thoughts.

Connect this 3.5mm AUX to 5 pin DIN cable to the radio input 5 pin DIN cables on the intercom module.

Then, I will connect the headset 5 pin DIN headset on the intercom to a Y splitter, along with the radio using this cable

And finally output the radio and aux (though intercom) to the booster.

I will be able to adjust the volume of the auxiliary input though the intercom volume control knobs

Any feedback on this method? Is there a better way of doing this? Thanks!

Are the correct pins in the DIN connector in this cable connected to the correct parts of the TRS connector? This cable is meant for a B&O stereo. The Honda DIN connector is very likely using a different pinout.
