im a new member and i have an 82 gl1100a aspencade and i need a new wiring harness. i found one online for 30 bucks but im not sure if everything is there. is there something i should look for specifically? the harness on mine is kind of a rats nest but ive also heard that even when they are wired correctly, they are still rats nests.
EDIT: i need to download the schematic for the harness as well and i noticed that there is not a specific pdf for the aspencade. is it because the gl1100 standard and gl1100a aspencade have the same harness?

Re: wiring harness
I have a naked 83 Interstate. I can't really help except to say that I wish I had just swapped mine out. I'm up to my elbows in wires and I have less working than when I started. I would gladly have given up $30 to save the last month in hassle and headaches.
Good luck

Re: wiring harness
Yeah i went ahead and bought it. I think they way wiring harnesses work, is you have a main harness that extends the length of the bike, and small/short sub harnesses that connect to the main harness and go somewhere specific such as the headlights or taillights. Im having trouble with the main harness so that will be replaced and as we go along rewiring the new one, we will remove anything that is a dead end or doesnt belong.
