80 GL1100i fork brace

Post by NigelPDrumhead »

Hi all! Longtime reader, first time talking! I am grateful for all the info this site has given me while rebuilding my 80 GL1100i over the past 6 months. The plates are on their way and I can't wait to ride! I rebuilt the rear air shocks with Progressive springs and just ordered the Progressive fork springs. I'm looking for a fork brace and can't seem to find one. 1980 is all by itself, the lower legs have no mounting holes as in the 81 and up. The brace would have to have a hump to clear the fender. Any ideas? Thanks.

i have a set for an 80 - 83 Goldwing.
I'm not sure by what you mean by no holes. the ones I have, mount on the tops of the bottom forks.

these are the one on my bike. i have an extra set in a box somewhere.

Thanks for the reply. Are you selling the spare set? I am very interested in them. I purchased a universal set but no go. I'm new to this forum so I don't know how to pm you, but if you can pm me with a price I would appreciate it. Thanks again.

I emailed him and made him an offer. I know their value and will make sure he is compensated.

Ok Mr. Nigel, this is what I have. they do need to be cleaned up and or polished.
they came off an 80 - 83 ish model. I bought a set of forks for my GW and these were on them.
drop me an email with where you want them sent and I'll see about getting them to you.

as far as the value of these(Joneszy),,,, they are worth more helping a fellow GW out then money. too much GREED in the world as it is.

You are right and I apologize. You seem like one of the good ones. So refreshing to see a fellow winger actually helping another out without thought of monetary gain. Hope you are repaid for your generosity in then future. I am sure you will be.
