Post by Wilcoy02 »

What is the best way to replace the rubber setting on the bolt that goes in the cylinder head cover?

Thanks

Should come off easy, don't loose the chrome washer. Use a set from the 1500, same item. Comes in a set of 12 for $18.00 USD, have used these on my 1200: https://www.ebay.com/itm/12-Valve-cover ... 1644117951

I cut the old rubber off. As suggested elsewhere I used a heat gun to make the new rubber more elastic. Pushed the new rubber on with a socket that fit the rubber. Heated and pushed right on.

I changed mine this spring. Cut the old ones off as they were stiff as all hell and I couldn't get them over that shoulder on the bolt. New ones I greased a little with silicone brake lube and slipped them on, they were tight to get on but with the silicone it wasn't too bad.

Since I changed those rubber things. I no longer have oil on my boot after a ride now.
