Final drive swap
I have a question. What final drive can I out on my 1980 wing that will allow me to ride at the same speed with a lower engine rpm? It seems that I ran across this info, but cannot find it anywhere. It seems like it was from a cb750, but I'm not sure. TIA

Re: Final drive swap
I don't think you'll get a CB750 final drive to work - It's a chain-drive....
Not much luck with the various years of GL1100 either, though in '82 and '83 they changed the transmission gear ratios the final drive ratios are all the same....

Re: Final drive swap
The CB900C uses the GL1100 final drive anyway, I believe, so I assume the ratio is the same. I'm happy to be corrected if I'm wrong, though.

There is an aftermarket gearset that will do what you want.

Pretty damned expensive. If it's going to cost that much I think I'll just stick with what I've got.

Re: Final drive swap
Final drive ratios for the 80/81 are 3.091 ratios for the 82/ 83 are 3.10. You might drop an rpm or two.

I believe that someone said that one from a VTX700 will do this. I'm not sure though.
