Spark Unit

Post by Fab2 »

Hi! We are bringing a 1981 Gold Wing Interstate back to life. Discovered that the spark unit casing has melted. Has anyone had this problem? Thanks in advance. We are thinking that if it melted, then there must be a problem with another section of the ignition system, a coil or coils maybe?

This is not a problem. The 1100 spark units are famous for melting gobs of black goo out of themselves, doesn't seem to bother them any, they keep on working. Nature of the beast.
