No ignition

No ignition
Hi folks .had no ignition then noticed negative earth unsecured as bolt was slack .and also noticed 10amp fuse was blown in main fuse box the 1st one from the right acc 10amp replaced with spare fuse in fuse box lid..got ignition press start button heard a click from underneath seat area .now no ignition .battery 12.85 volts

Engine rotates but no spark.

No ignition working
Yes ignition working.now when press start button nothing happens no clicks ,murmur,lights working and dont cut out or go dim when press start button.any suggestions good folks..ive noticed tinfoil working great at getting rid of pitted rust on chrome etc etc.thanks for all the great hints and tips ive had past ,present and not forgetting back to the future

i would start by spraying some electrical contact cleaner or similar inside the start button area. this MIGHT get you a few starts, but it sounds more likely that you will have to actually remove and do a more thorough cleaning job in there.

It was a bad main earth i dont have correct battery for bike so using battery and jump leads.when i press start it slowly turns over for 1 second .and the part where main fuse goes to clicks loudly.and positive and negative jump cables go warm.also removed the regulator/rectifier unit and symptoms remain same ..lots of help needed many thanks

Also no power going to parking 5amp fuse ..fuse ok .when i put multimeter on it counter remains at 000 thow a minus sign appears to the left of 000

on my multimeter, a (-) sign when testing for voltage simply means that the test leads are reversed, and no harm done.
on my various 'wings i fumbled around endlessly with a (half-dead) car battery and jumper leads. when i started shelling out for a new battery for each new project, a lot of electrical problems vanished.
