Digital speedo
I am have an issue on my 83 Aspencade. The speedo is off by 8 kph according to my GPS. I have checked it for a week straight. Any ideas on how to fix it. I replaced the whole cable and wheel assembly last year and it worked fine until about 2 weeks ago.

Re: Digital speedo
Mine is off by 5 km/h. If the gauge says 55 km/h I'm actually doing 50. If it ways 105km/h I'm going 100. If it says 135 it's really 130. It's weird but I've checked it more than once and it's always the same. Usually a discrepancy caused by a mechanical function will get worst the faster you go ex. bang on at 40-50, 3km/h off at 90, 6 km/h off at 120 kinda thing.
I've looked around and there isn't really any way to fix one that stays consistent throughout the whole speed range on these old machines. These were designed to read a little higher than you are actually going, not much we can do about that.
Your front tire the right size? Really worn?

Front is right size and replaced it last week. Still off by the same amount.
108 kph on the gauge is really 100.

Re: Digital speedo
Which cable did you change? Aspencades don't have a speedo cable. They only have the unit at the wheel, then it's just wires going to the digital display from there. All that does is send pulses to the speedo, same thing as a electronic tach. Your speedo is off it's because the gauge is receiving a few too many pulses.

Yeah I meant to say complete wiring and wheel assembly. It was also off an 83 Aspencade.
