Well I was succesful with the radiator hose. aparrently even though it was wet at the base of the radiator tank the new hose did the trick. I have a running riding bike now to enjoy, I still have intermittent temp and gas gages. I thought they were completely dead after the spedometer swap but they came back for a few minutes yesterday so I guess there's an electrical gremlin in there that I'm really not concerned about other than it being annoying.I did service the rear drive and with the bag off it was evident that the boot is torn on the right rear shock. though they still hold air I guess some day I should look into either replacing the boots or just locate some conventional non air shocks. are those out there?

It is easy to replace the seals in the shocks.
