Trying to revive a 1980 Gl1100I. It has an EMPI 34 PICT 3 single carb. Got it running, but won't idle. Wondering...
1. Disassembled, inspected and cleaned the carbs pilot circuits, they actually seemed pretty clean already. What jets and pilot screw settings are successful on these? The way I found it:
Main 127.4
Air (big) screw 13/4 turns out
Fuel (small) screw 3 turns out
Air correction jet/emulsion tube is size 70.
There are ports/jets on the other side but they both appear plugged. see pic.
2. Throttle cable is broken, what to use because the barrel on the stock cable is too small. Not enough exposed wire, can you somehow cut the jacket back?
3. Now have starting trouble, Would intermittently work, mostly just made a horrible grinding noise when on bike, but starter seems to bench test ok...starter or clutch I'm wondering?
Thanks,
Greg - Milwaukee WI USA

Are these jet supposed to be plugged? and are the jets an appropriate size for a stock exhaust?

I'm sorry you haven't gotten any responses to your questions Greg. As you can see there aren't a lot of the single carb people active on here these days.
