Tank pressure
Well we have such a beautiful warm day here in the Texas panhandle I had to get the old 82 GL 1100 out and ride. only put 68 miles on it but it sure was fun to get out and going. I went back out to fill the gas tank after about 15 minutes and when I unscrewed the cap it was pressured up and made quite a whoosh and pushed the cap up when it was turned. I can see the vent holes on the inside of the cap and I'm guessing it may be made to allow air to come in to prevent vacuum while runnig but probably not let it out in case the bike is laid down. am I right or do I have a plugged cap?

Re: Tank pressure
Your gas tank should hold a small amount of pressure. Perhaps 1 or 2 psi. The gas cap has a relief valve that will release excess pressure. From your description your cap releaf valve is clogged. Soak over night in Seafoam or even white vinegar then blow out with compressed air. Common problem.
