83 GL 1100 Interstate . no power to headlight socket or the dimmer switch ( High Low Beam ) all my other light are working the
fuse has power on both ends The only wiring I have touched was 2 days ago I replaced the starter solenoid and a few of the wires looked fried so I replaced two wires that go to the solenoid any ideas would be appreciated

Power for headlight also goes thru the start button. Press button shuts off headlight and energizes starter. Release start button stops the start motor and turns headlight back on.

1100 starter switch is notorious for getting dirty contacts in the headlight circuit. Try wiggling the button around and see if the headlight comes on. Start button on my 1100 does this. Fiddle with the start button and I have headlight again. I should probably disassemble the starter switch and clean it.

OK , I will look at that but my start button and the whole assembly it is in is new less than 2000 miles , If I can not find anything I will hook the old start button back up and see what happens

Does the blue light illuminate on the dash when HIGH is switched? If so, might check connections from dimmer to headlight (bulb too). If no, check blue/white wire from start button to dimmer switch.

I switched the two non-power wires on the starter solenoid and the head light came on, then it went out again I played with the start button and the headlight came back on so I am keeping the light on high beam so the blue light is on if that light goes out I will know that the headlight is out

Another famous GL1100 fault is corrosion in the fuse holders where it clamps onto the metal fuse caps. Also, the old-style glass fuses can have the element come loose at one end, it isn't blown, but it won't work either.
