Locked handlebar/lost key
Locked handlebar/lost key
Buying an 80 GL1100 with no key and locked bars. Should I try to load onto my trailer as is or is there an easy way to drop the key cylinder and locking post?

Re: Locked handlebar/lost key
Might be easier to look on the Helmet lock for a 3 digit number stamped into the cylinder by the key slot. if not there, check all the other locks (ign, shelter lock).
Take that 3 digit number to a local locksmith and they can cut you a new key from that code.

Re: Locked handlebar/lost key
The 1100 ignition locks are not exactly high tech, high tolerance locks. They contain a simple, low-tolerance wafer core. If you have the appropriate lock jiggler tool, it's usually all you'll need to unlock one of them.
