Suspension

Post by Smokinbubba »

New here, been lurking for a couple weeks and learning all I can. Just acquired an ‘81 interstate that has not ran in 10 yrs. got it for a song and want to cruise the backroads in my farming community once I get the old girl on the road. Not new to these old girls, dad always had one for me to ride from a 76?to a 88. Question is: got her running and plan on timing belts, and brakes. Just to start. Looking into suspension at the moment while parts are on order. The forks as well as the rear shocks don’t seem to hold air for more than a minute. I’m a BIG dude at 350 so looking for suggestions on how to make her not sag/bottom out with my bigness and give her the smoothness she deserves. Did I mention I am handy with wrenches and super cheap. Thx in advance, Bubba

Cool, I will check it out. Would you recommend heavy duty progressive springs??
I am actually just south of Grove City. Shoot a LOT at the Cardinal center up by you. Work at Hoover Reservoir.

Well, got er done today. Progressive springs and new seals. Wasnt all that hard. The car lift adapter made all the difference. Now on to the coolant leak and timing belts.
