burnt stator

Post by Tipsy McStaggers »

Replaced my stator 2 years ago, don't remember where I bought it, was after market. Any advise on where to get a good replacement that will last and also how to avoid burning the next one up?

Heat and acidic oil (from infrequent oil changes) are the enemy of your stator.

Heat can be mitigated by switching to a modern non-shunt type regulator that does not run your stator at full output all of the time. Acidic oil can be helped with regular oil changes, particularly at the end of riding season.

I`m considering Randakks also for my second over overhaul of this bike. Direct replacement, 350 watt stator with updated wiring and connectors.

Who sells non shunted regulators? The PO complained of battery problems for the five years he rode it.

It's not you.
This is the series R/R page. You have to hunt for it.
