To Retorque or not to Retorque,,, That is a Quandry.

Post by velvetrider »

Help,,, I am slipping down the Rabbit hole. or,, at 72 maybe I should extend my dosing schedule ?
Leaking coolant out of #2 exhaust, (see my other post) prompted me to consider torquing the left head. It was done 3 yrs ago when I did carbs, heads, valves.
It seems I have heard, (hey Wingman you listening) that to correctly retorque you should break bolts loose then retorque in the correct pattern. ?? WingMan,,, a good topic for your channel also.
I am going to make Black Velvet dance again even if it kills me,, thanks for all your help.

You really only need a single retorque after replacing the gasket and warming it up. Not likely to do anything once your gasket starts failing.
And no, you do not want to break all the bolts loose once the gasket is seated.
