Retorquing a head Torque specs?

Post by velvetrider »

Going to torque my head on left side. It is leaking a little coolant out of #2 exhaust. What is the spec.
to tighten??.. Any of you guys got helpful suggestions. I know the bolts sequence and doubt that I will move much but I thought I would give it a shot as the valve covers are off. The valve lash is spot on for the bike now. I just got to get her done so I can get my old knees in the breeze.
Thanks guys.

Worth a try, but not likely to fix it unless you get lucky and something is loose.
Torque is 55 Nm for the six main bolts and 10 Nm for the small one at the bottom.

At a guess, you have two chances of a retorque fixing the problem; none and bugger all.
Going to have to pull the head and change the gasket.
When replacing the head, Moly grease the main bolt theads and under the heads, incrementally tighten to 45ft/lbs.
'Impossible' is just a level of difficulty! The only stupid question is the one you didn't ask first!

( Seriously, you haven't read all 115 pages of my http://www.wingovations.com website ?? )
