Progressive shocks question

Post by kotkinjs1 »

Hi all, I've got a new to me 1982 GL1100 that the PO lowered. I want to raise it back up. It's got Progressive model 412-4022 on the rears now. I think that's for a Harley Sportster from what I can find on Google. They're a little over 10 and a half inches bolt to bolt center and they should be about 13, correct? Anyway, I can't just get a longer spring, right? The body is different for the Honda Goldwings.....412-4222, correct?

412-4222C is correct.
It only comes with the “heavy duty” spring.
On my 83 Interstate, I set the preload at the 4th notch to get the proper static sag (1/4 inch with bike only weight) and with my 240lbs I get about 1 1/2 inch of rider sag.
Progressive recommends setting to 1/3 travel at full up weight. That’s a about what I get.
Good luck.

Have a nice day! :)
