Derusting tank but what's that thing at the bottom.

I'm currently in the process of derusting my GL1100a tank and coating it with POR-15 but saw that there was some ball thing at the bottom. Is this something that can be removed?

Without seeing what you are looking at, it is likely the debris screen over the reserve fuel pickup. Look for a fuel line going from that to the petcock on the inside of the tank. If that is what you are looking at it is not removeable. Just de-rust it as best you can.

that will clean out the strainers instead of plugging them up, I don't like cream pastes ala por 15
