It resides inside the engine near the crankshaft. I think it lubes the chains driving other shafts ... I think.

You can see it in the parts manual, the section with the stuff inside the crank case.
I’ve done a lot to my bike but never needed to remove the engine from the frame ( ie clutch, alternator or crank/piston/rings ).
