heel/toe shifter

Post by winguyjo »

a gl1100 has popped up that i think is worth looking at. it has a heel/toe shifter on it which i would want to put back to stock ... nothing against heel/toe shifters per se, i am just too old and i repair/ride too many different bikes to be messing around with this stuff. to put it back to stock is it a simple bolt-off/bolt-on situation ?

Does it have pegs or floorboards?
Just bolt on the stock parts. You will have to source used ones as they are not available from Honda anymore.

thanks for the reply ... it has floorboards . i know for sure i have a shift lever in the hoard and i am almost positive if have a set of footpegs (i resisted the urge to sell them because they seem to be scarce now).

Don't know what type of boards and heel/toe it has but I took the ones off my 83 Aspy. Had to source foot pegs (Ebay) but the heel/toe was merely adapted to the stock shifter arm. So undid it and discarded the aftermarket shifter. I think you will be good to go if you have footpegs on hand. They are getting harder to find and if needed a foot lever should be relatively easy to find from a recycler.

I know when I got my 1500 with the floorboards and heel-toe shifter I asked the seller if he still had the pegs.
He said he was not sure but would look. After about a month, he could not find them so I had to source them out on e-bay.
About $65 later I had all the parts (2 pegs, return springs, mounting pins, shifter and brake pedal) to swap it back.
I sold the floorboards and shifter to a member here for I think $140? shipped. It was about $25 for shipping, so still ended up ahead.
If I had time to wait, I probably could have swapped parts with the member that bought the stuff.
