running lights

Post by arnoldsq »

I just finished putting all the accessories back on the goldwing and did a light test. In the ON position I get no running lights. Breaks and turn signals all work. If I put the ignition in the P position I get all the parking lights. Did I miss a fuse somewhere or do I have a bigger problem to look for?

check the voltage on both ends of the glass fuse. if all is good there, check for voltage at the fairing main plug. if you have power on one side but not the other, that will be a source of the problem.
the connections can get corroded over time.

how long have you owned the bike?

thanks for the info. I ran out of time tonight before having to stop and put the kid to bed. how long have I owned it well I bought it in 2015 as a barn find and then had another kid and left it sit. It had sat for 10 years before I got it. The engine had a surface rust in the cylinder with open valves. That broke over and compression is good. This summer I took some time to get her running and just getting it buttoned up in time for winter.

make sure you change the timing belts before you run it. if one fails while it is running, it can cause catastrophic failure.

First thing I did this summer. The bolts on those covers are a bit tricky to get aligned back up.

Ive done all fluids, de-rusted the tank, break pads, break masters, tires, and a complete carb overhaul. I still want to swap to LED's, change the front headlight but I at least want a few weeks on it before the bad weather hits for the year.

You're off to a great start. Sounds like you're going to get a lot of enjoyment from the bike.

To finalize the problem, it was the 10A tail fuse.
