Hi there,
I have begun a project to rebuild my rear brakes on a 1980 GL1100 Standard.
I have removed the calipers, I notice that the mount is touching the disc on the outer edge (away from bike).
How do I adjust that?
Thanks,
Dan.

Post pics of the assembly from that side of the bike. Something has to be assembled incorrectly.

Something is badly worn, or more likely poorly reassembled after the last wheel removal. Check the DIY's on this site for rear wheel/tire removal and re-installation.
There is a specific sequence for tightening the axle nut, and the driveshaft flange to keep things aligned right. There are shoulders, and spacers (some slight differences per year and model) that need to be assemble in the right place and positioned correctly as things get tightened.
Also rotate the wheel and check for a bent disk. Odds of a bent mount are slim, but could happen.

Re: Caliper mount touching disc - rear brake
OK -- so got time to pick this up again -- everything seemed there in the correct order of assembly:
Before: Taken apart: Also, before removing the axle I had turned the rear wheel -- it was not scraping all the way around -- it scraped for half a turn, was free for half a turn, and so on. To my eye, did not look like the disc was warped.
Is the disc the issue?
Thanks,
Dan.

Re: Caliper mount touching disc - rear brake
OK -- so did a quick fix. I placed a 7/8 diameter thin bushing on the inside of caliper bracket between that and the inner spacer that goes into the wheel. No more scraping
I do have new disc I will install in spring when I replace my tire and also my bearings.
Thanks everyone for helping with this.
Best regards,
Dan.

Re: Caliper mount touching disc - rear brake
Weird to have rubbing on the rear. In the front is where I tend to have to mess with the forks a bit to get the proper spacing with the caliper mounts. If the rear doesn't align, seems like something must be bent, something must be missing, something was swapped from an incompatible year, or something was done wrong in the installation process.
