1983 Aspencade radio tuner, clock etc.

Post by Sig45227 »

So I went back in and reconnected all of the 2 wire connections for my radio. (Black & Red wires)

Everything works but I cannot tune up or down with the stations. I also cannot adjust the clock. Anybody have an idea what may be causing this?

I did check a lot of fuses inside that insane octopus gang fight behind the left turn signal. Seems like all the fuses we're good but one, which I replaced to no avail.

I originally unplugged all of these items because the radio pretty much sucks to put it bluntly, and I believe that it was putting a slow drain on my battery.

Had same thing on my aspencade. Still had intercom and cb. Sent unit to Sierra. Week and a half had it back. $140 was all pluss my shipping it to them. Works great now.

Was told a diode bad and needed conections inside cleaned. Did not doubt them as po had neglected the old girl.

Good to know. I may just bite the bullet and get a marine radio and a couple speakers and do away with all the old outdated stereo stuff.

Your current speakers would work. Do you have intercom and cb on bike?

Do not dispose of that radio unit. Even needing fixed they are valuable. I imagine it is clarion3.

Speakers work, radio works, cassette deck works and plays through speakers, CB works too. Just the up/down tuning buttons are dead. Clock works but I cannot adjust the time since it uses the same function buttons as the tuner.

The intercom system has been disconnected and removed since I had none of the antiquated hardware/headsets.

Yes, it's the Clarion 3.

Some pics. Installed Polk Audio speakers quite a while back it did little to help the sound quality.

By the time you spend the money and the installation of an am fm, one would have less time and money in getting current radio repaired. Contact Sierra and they will tell you what you need to send them.

Probably would end up being more expensive but I'd like a newer platform that will play MP files etc.
Any idea how many watts the original system gobbles up? I know there is an amplifier of sorts in the system.
