rear Disc heating up

Post by JoBoy68 »

83 GL 1100 I rebuilt my rear caliper and one thing seemed strange the bottom slide
( by this I mean there are 2 bolts that hold on the caliper and they have to slide ) had to travel all the way to the end to get it back on the bracket , when I was rebuilding the caliper that slide was frozen and now it looks good but my disc gets hot like the brake is constantly making contact not sure what the problem is it all looks good

If when bike is on center stand, is rear wheel easy to move by hand?

May need to remove splash defector thing of caliper, the use flash light to check clearances.

Just did that on mine. In fact, the splash thingy was rubbing makeing a squeel when rear brack applied. Winter coming and have lots of tweeking during the winter months.

Could be the Pistons freezing up or the guides need a good cleaning and light anti seize. When is the last time that the rear master cylinder was serviced?
