Carb codes for gl1100s

Post by jtcr85@gmail.com »

hello,
I’ve recently purchased a 1982 1100 to fix up, I’m currently rescuing it from a 4-1 Webber set up, and back to originals
and now I have a Carb codes question....
Ive got two sets of gl1100 carbs both in similar condition to go on a 1982 gl1100 that I'm putting back together.
One set is VB49AASBJ, and one is VB49ABIDH.
Which one is meant to go on the 1982 model? is there any difference between them? i know the gl1000's have unique carbs for some years.

And, will any gl1100 carb kit from any year do?

Thankyou

Here’s some info to help with carb codes:

It looks like the forks and wheels (maybe brakes too) are from an ‘83.

So I’ve got 49A screw out idle carbs.
They going to work on a 82? And will they take any rebuild kits?

They sure will. It’s often advised to completely dissemble, clean really thoroughly, and replace all the rubber bits with Randakk’s kit. There are really good resources here, NGW Forum, and Randakks.

Cool thanks.
Yeah I’ve rebuilt a 1000 carb without having to separate the individual carbs, but with these 1100s to accesss some bits I’ll have to separate I rekon. Randakks are unavailable probably due to covid, but there’s heaps on eBay
