Speedometer Cable Woes
Bought a new speedometer cable from Sabre Cycle (bad idea, I know)
It broke. (surprised?)
Want to replace it with a quality speedo cable. Anyone have any suggestions? I have been looking at Niche speedometer cable on Amazon - It says it will fit my 1982 GL1100 but the pictures don't look right. The wheel end has a funky looking part on it.

Any other recommendations out there??
Thanks in advance -
Greg.

Re: Speedometer Cable Woes
it also states it fits a 84-85 aspencade. my 84 aspencade has wires, not cable. once lied to, i move on. that said, go to napa and buy a universal speedo cable/ it comes with tips you crimp on after you cut the cable to length.

+1 Rambozo beat me to it. I always look up my parts on fiche from Partzella or Honda Parts Nation before ordering parts. Many times the oem parts are very close in price to some knockoffs. In this case it is a "no brainer" to buy oem IMHO.

Yep, think you're right - OEM is the way to go. Ordered from Partzilla - cost a bit more but I think it's worth it too.
Thanks!
Thanks!

Re: Speedometer Cable Woes
Received the replacement OEM from Partzilla. Fits like a charm.
On a side note - I have to say something nice about Sabre Cycle. Told them about the speedometer cable that failed. They sent a replacement to me without hesitation and without me asking. So, just want to be fair and say that Sabre Cycle did right by sending another one. I'll keep it as a spare.

Re: Speedometer Cable Woes
Seems to me that if a cable broke and was replaced with a cable that also broke, it would make a sense to look into why cables keep breaking. Nine times out of ten when a guy finds that the needles on the gauges are "jerky" it's because the cables aren't being routed properly, a very common mistake which would also shorten cable life along with not lubing them.
I'm selling good clean fresh hay. If you want some that's already passed through the horse, that comes a little cheaper!

Re: Speedometer Cable Woes
That's not the issue. Original cable was just old so I replaced it. Installed new one and it came out of the hub. Went to re-install and the cable end broke off when I was installing it. New one works fine.
