gl1000 engine/carbs into gl1100 ?

bought a '83 aspencade basket case and right off the bat i have hit a major snag. the PO had rebuilt the carbs (using aftermarket kits). i decided to check his work and when removing the idle mixture screws, 2 of the 4 tips stayed behind.

i do NOT see them coming out of there; have spent quite a bit of time trying. i could, of course, buy some used carbs somewhere but would rather use up some of my goldwing hoard. i have a 1977 gl1000 (strictly a parts bike) with carbs that i know will run and i know it has good compression. is there any reason to NOT use this set-up on the '83 ? any major obstacles to overcome ? not at all concerned about losing a smidgeon of power at either end of the spectrum. just want it to run properly.

Why not just use the 1000 carbs on the 1100?

actually, i should have asked that as a 2nd part of the question. i have done some reading on that and 1 particularly famous wing guy says that it works, but somewhat vaguely, suggests that it doesnt work well. if anyone has done this and not had a problem then i am all for it !

Did the 1000 onto 1100 several times. Run ok.

Had several wrecked 1000s, kid would buy a non or poor running 1100 for 200 bucks. Put 1000 carbs on and sell 1100 for 900 bucks. One we put the 1000 stator on 1100.

good to know, thanks ! we are slipping into a deep freeze for the next week or so, but after that is out of the way i should be able to get out there for short bursts of bike work. 1000 carbs into the 1100 it is (as long as the 1100 engine checks out ok).
