for a goldwing, that is low miles. does it start easily, idle properly, rev up and down smoothly ? does he have documentation for the timing belt job ? are the tires of recent vintage ? is the stator putting out adequate charging voltage ? does the clutch work properly ? if not, those are "engine out" jobs.
if that all checks out, then his price is quite fair and i would buy it. nice colour !

I've had a Venture in the past, you'll have an easier time getting used parts with the Goldwing just because there's more of them out there. Yamaha is pretty good at stocking parts for older models so it's about even on that front. It's not too difficult to pick up a cheap Goldwing parts bike for the reason mentioned before, there's more of them out there.
I'm selling good clean fresh hay. If you want some that's already passed through the horse, that comes a little cheaper!

The best advice on internet motorcycle repair forums comes from posting the wrong answer to your own question.

seems cosmetically correct. for 1500 i would jump. but if the venture is same condition and price, i would jump on that. cant go wrong with eaither.
boils down to how aggressive a rider you are.

yes a goldwing will easily go to 155k and beyond, with regular maintenance. i have never had an 87 but i think it's pretty unanimous that there are no bad versions of the goldwing; just depends on what you want and how much you have to spend.

sounds like you have at least 2, low-mileage, one owner bikes to choose from ... wish i had that problem.
