Fuel unit part numbers
So, I have an 83 interstate. When I got it, the original gauge cluster had been removed, and it had an aftermarket Speedo and tach, the Speedo has built in dummy lights, but there’s no temp or fuel gauge. So I decided to keep the speedo and tach that were on it, but I bought an original gauge cluster and gutted everything except the temp and fuel gauges and voltage regulator. I’ve tested both gauges by grounding the signal wires, and the needles move, so there’s no problem there. Then while perusing the interwebz for additional info, I read several posts on different sites about rusty fuel sending units. Decided to check mine and discovered it had been removed! I cannot find a sending unit specific to the 83 interstate, they are all out of stock and I can’t even find them on eBay used. Someone in a fb group suggested that they are all the same for all years of the 1100, but the one he linked is a different part number than the one for the 83 interstate. Can anyone advise me on this?

I got a pristine gas tank off EBay and the seller sent me a note that he had 20 GL 1100 and his business card

Re: Fuel unit part numbers
I got tired of waiting for an answer and bought the 82 sending unit. I was really looking for an answer on whether any 1100 sending unit would work on any year. Part numbers for the 82 and 83 sending unit are different, but sometimes different part numbers are compatible across several model years. The 82 sending unit will be delivered tomorrow, so I’ll find out if it works or not. At this point I am no closer to an answer to my question than when I asked it.
