1500 front wheel on the 1100

Post by crazzy450z »

Has anyone ever fitted a 1500 front wheel onto a 1100 Aspencade??

I know the axle shafts are different diameters 15mm (1100) vs 20mm (1500). But the wheel bearings outer diameters are identical at 42mm. This leads me to believe that the 1500 front wheel could be fitted, using the bearings and seals from a 1100. I do not know about the speedo drive or axel spacers. Spacers can be made up quickly on a lathe.

The other questions is will the brake disks line up with the calipers? I know the 1500 disks are thinner, but are the same diameter at 296mm.. What is the spacing of the disks on the 1500? Inside face to inside face? If I knew someone who was local with a 1500 I would just measure it up.. I'm looking to do the 1200/1500 swing arm/wheel swap, and was hoping to swap the front to get better tire choices.

Hi Rambozo. That's perfect, thank you so much. I'll check my 1100 tonight when I get home.

This will let me know if this is even something to consider.. I'm actually surprised that this question has never come up before, but nothing showed up when I did a search.

ok.. For reference the 83' 1100 Aspencade front disks are 115.5mm inside and 135.5mm outside.
So the 1500 wheel is not really an option unless your willing to modify the mounting points on the wheel..
