Sync of carbs

Post by Prlwng »

Rebuilt carbs. Went to sync them. Could get 1 3 ok. Could get 2 4 ok. Can not get left and right to balence. In fact after getting 2 and 4 together then 1 3 reading went very high.

Switched hoses on gauges and still same readings. So know it not gauges.

Sprayed either around carbs and no change in rpm. Was looking for leak.

Any ideas on what I got going on?

TY

Proper sequence for mechanical bench sync, or vacuum gauge sync...
Carb #3 is the "master". Sync #1 to #3. Then sync #4 to #3. Then sync #2 to #4. Then adjust idle stop screw to get idle speed back to normal. If you needed to adjust idle significantly, then repeat the sync sequence.

Got em close now.

Reset 1 to 2 4 then set 4 to 3. As setting 4 to 3 all came to within 1 point. Will finesse after Easter dinner.

Something musta been way off. These came off the 82 and cleaned and rebuilt them. Then put them on the 81.

Sometimes when they are way out, it will take quite a few repetitions of the sequence to get them all to come in line, at an acceptable idle speed.
