neutral light

i brought my 82 interstate out of storage last weekend. All fluids are good "changed them before storage" aired everything up and she started right up and drove great. The only issue I found was that the neutral light stays on when in gear until you give it some throttle. Is that a voltage issue? The fuel and temp work correctly.

Had you replaced that bulb with an LED before you put it away for winter?

no I didn't because I read it would stay on constantly.

Check the diode in the wiring harness near the voltage regulator , you can bench test it and see if it’s allowing power in both directions . It is not bi-directional so if you have flow both ways it’s junk.

just wanted to say i finally took her apart enough to find the diode. Sure enough diode tester shorted both polarity
