GL1100 Interstate crash bars

Post by gsp4711 »

I have an '83 Interstate without front crash bars. A set of 1200 Interstate bars have come up for sale, will they fit?
I'm not bothered about them looking correct, just about them saving serious engine damage if I drop the machine.
Thanks

I know GL1000 and GL1100 crash bars are interchangeable, not sure between 1100 and 1200 though. I would guess they'll swap, too, but that's a guess.

I had the 1000 for several years, got the 1100 as a basket case but got it running and decided to sell the GL1000. I swapped the crash bars because I didn't like the 1100 crash bar design, kept busting my shins on them. So sold the 1000 with the 1100 crash bars.

So if you find GL1000 crash bars, they are known to fit.

Thanks for the reply. And thanks also for the reminder of the knocks on the shins with the 1100 engine bars. My bike had them when I got it but they had stuff welded on and they were rusting so I ditched them. Wrong move, maybe.
I'll keep looking.

Thanks, Chewy, but I see that you are in USA.
Unfortunately the postage alone makes any items from across the water eye-wateringly expensive.
I need to keep looking on this side - UK.
