83 aspencade
When cool, volt meter goes up to 14.5 or so. As air temp goes up it will drop. This morn at 80 degrees and high humidity it was 13.4. Previous new bat last fall only lasted 4 months. This new one starting to act same way.
Yellow wires hard wired. No short in alternator.
Would appreciate where to look next.

Re: Something in charging?
I have an 83 interstate hope my experience will help you and it took a while to figure out. The 3 yellow wires from the stator, they did not use a thick enough gauge wire , so they get hot and the weak point is the plug by the battery because it has metal in it and that gets even hotter and eventually melts or burns the plug a few years back I removed the plug and used some good wire connectors which also have metal in them , beginning of this season I saw on the amps gauge it charging once went on a long ride and it mostly read 11.9 Volts,I check the wiring harness from the stator at the battery and it was hot to the point the electrical tape was half melted and the wires were stuck together I separated the wires and still not charging I cut out the wire connectors and soldered in some heavier gauge wire just in the area of the plug about 4 inches of wire started it up and the charging went up to 13.9 and now it is charging properly also in the past I saw the gauge go to high on charging but now is working better than it has in years
