Rear fender retrofit

I have an ‘81 GL1100i with the early one-piece rear fender. I’d like to replace it with a two-piece fender from an ‘82 or ‘83 to make rear tire changes easier, and also a one-man job (no leaning the entire bike over like it says in the shop manual). Just wondering if a later two-piece fender is a simple bolt-in or if it also requires a tail light assembly from a later model? TIA
