this is my 1981 gl1100 standard which is next up on the massage table.
while installing a battery of course i had a quick look at the stator connector; looked not too bad ... no distortion or even discolouring of the white connector, just a tiny bit of what i initially passed off as dirt on one of the wires ...
whoa ! that ain't dirt ...
sorry for the fuzzy pic ... the corrosion and plastic distortion is actually worse that it looks in the pic. will of course be cutting, soldering, etc. won't know for sure about the stator until the engine is running but there's no continuity to ground, and the wires have continuity to each other so, hoping for the best.

My 83 the plug was cooked, cut it out, and used wire connectors, beginning of this season it was not charging I untaped the wires and they looked pretty rough I cut out the section of wires about 5 inches and soldered 14 gauge in there. That is the 3 red wires in the pic started bike up and charging went up to 13.9 and it has been charging properly ever since
