Windshield removal, windjammer fairing issue...huh???

Post by slickster »

1980 1100, windjammer fairing, need to remove the windshield, none of the screws will come out, they just spin, I need to get to the back side to grab the nut thingies....looks impossible without splitting the outer and inner fairings, true? Drill some access holes in the inner fairing?....thanks

Have you tried a cordless impact? They can often remove fasteners from objects that spin.
Are they well nuts? (a type of rubber covered nutsert)
If so just spin them with a drill while pulling out on the windshield and the rubber portion will disintegrate.

If you have the Cycle Sound kit installed you need to remove that to get to the windshield nuts. Remove the speakers from the cycle sound to get to attaching screws.

If you completely remove the "Cycle Sound" radio housing, the nuts on the end of the Vetter windshield screws are fully exposed.
