Front Fork Rebuild

In every video, I have watched on rebuilding the forks when the lower is pulled off the oil stops fall out. mine stayed in tapped on the lowers banged them on the bench
they do not come out. one thought is if they are in there that tight they are not going to leak but then those O rings are almost 40 years old they are going to deteriorate. I would feel much better with the new O rings in there ..... Thoughts anyone
