Rear wheel off center and rubbing

Post by macd20 »

[hello from Canada.
I have looked. They cannot seem to find an answer for this. I have a 1981 GL1100. The guy I got it from I believe put the rear wheels from an 83 onto this bike. The tires are the proper size 130s. But it seems to be rubbing on the right side. I don't know if he's changed something else, example, the drive to make it narrower that it has set the wheel off a bit. If anyone has any ideas it'd be much appreciated. I'm kind of stumped. Thank you in advance

Make sure the axle spacer stack is correct. There are a few washers, caliper bracket, and spacer collars and folks have been known to not get them back together properly.

Thank you very much. I've got a book. I will pull it apart and make sure everything is in there in the proper spot. The width of the wheel, is it different or would the center be a different depth?

The tire is the right size. And it fits on the rim. It's supposed to be a 130. And the 83 is 140. I do not know if the rims are offset a little or what the deal is. I've got a bunch of parts coming from a 81. I will have a look and see what I can figure out or see if it's been put together wrong and keep everybody up to date

There is some adjustment to the swing arm remove the plastic caps and then you can loosen one side tighten the other side and it will move the swing arm
