Nothing comes on when key on.(please help)

My 82 GL1100I has had some front end changes apparently. The ignition stopped working bout a month ago and trying to find a new one was how I found out that it has an 84 1200i ignition switch
2 brown
Brown/white
Red
Black
Light green/black
Blue/orange
So I'm pretty sure that when I cut out the old switch my battery was connected and the wires probably crossed or touched something but I didn't ever get a spark a noise or anything. I found a base contact/ switch harness online wired it up and still have nothing. Battery is fine, fuse on solenoid is good ,30amp doggone replacement by battery is also good,and my glass fuses look fine in the fuse box.cpl of em have a blue-ish color to em but don't look burnt. I couldn't see if there is another 30amp up the line in false tank but I got a feeling that is my next step,taking front end apart. Has anyone ever been through this or has knowledge about what to do or check? If so it would be greatly appreciated!

A simple 12v test light will help, the ignition switch is just an unplug/plug in situation....did you cut wires, battery dead?....test current, start at battery, then move forward etc...if battery is good it will narrow down where the problem is....

Yes after old tumbler went bad in ignition switch I cut it off not thinking about battery still being hot,then I finally found a new one online and wired it back exactly the same way battery is sitting in bike with 12.2v that's as far as I got.

First thing would be to check all the fuses, including the ones in the starting solenoids. If you shorted the main wires to the ignition switch, you would lose fuses.

Alright then I'll check all the fuses and relays when I'm back in town. Until then I'll just keep researching it. Thanks for the info any other info from anyone would be greatly appreciated. I really miss being able to ride when I'm home,I've got to figure this out.

Double check your main "dog bone fuse" it can look ok but will most likely be the problem
I have had them literally turn to dust when inspecting them. Good luck !

The dog bone is is under starter seleniod thing next to battery. Follow red pos wire from bat to it. If good replace anyway. Then always carry a spare.

Are you sure only the front end was changed? Your pictures are not that clear but the seat and rear bags appear to be from a 1200.
