Front Brake Caliper Upgrade

Post by Tundra8970 »

Hello Again, I’ve heard that I’m able to change my 1981 single piston front brake calipers to 1982 Dual Piston calipers. I’m told it will greatly improve my stopping distance. Has anyone done this or have tips for me? Currently I installed a new front master cylinder and stainless steel brake lines.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
thanks,
Bob

All this depends on caliper mount spacing and offset in relation to the mounts and disc locations. Many Hondas from the same era used the same twin piston calipers, especially the full size bikes like the Magnas, CBs, Interceptors, etc. I did a little searching a while back on ebay, but never found data that shows the dimensions I referred to above.

You will need to change the fork lowers as the spacing is different for the caliper mounts
