hi goldwingers, im working on a 1981 GW that has been Frankensteined a bit and it needs a rear rotor. i am trying to get it on the road for the summer. the wheels are for a 1983 and i ended up putting the swingarm from the '83 on this one to make it work. im not sure it the brakes are off a 81 or the 83and im not sure how to tell. also the 83 may of not been a standard, just to make it more confusing. if they are the same its not a big deal but i thought i read somewhere there were about three different rotors.
any help would be much appreciated. looks for a rotor and with the price of them i would hate to buy the wrong parts

Re: rear rotor size
I'm new to Goldwings, but maybe this can help a little bit......
I pulled up Partzilla's site and looked up the rear rotor for an 83 Gl1100 Aspencade:
https://www.partzilla.com/product/honda ... 383c7a39c3
If you scroll down, it shows what other years and models the particular part number was used on. From my experience on other motorcycle though, different part numbers can sometimes mean next to nothing. Different paint colors, different wheel patterns, etc can change the part #, but the function of the part is the same. Does that make sense?

Re: rear rotor size
The all GL1100 years and models have a 296 mm diameter rear disk. The thickness for anything NON Aspencade is 7mm thick. If its an Aspencade it will be 10mm thick. These are the new thicknesses.
Do you have a factory service manual? They are invaluable for working on anything. PM me if you need it.
The specification section in the front has a lot of information to help identify parts.
