Water pump drive on 1983 gl 1100 interstate
Been trying to nail down overheating problem finally took off waterpump cover the impeller is not turning with bike idling and neither is the impeller shaft so is one of the ears broke off the rear shift or is the drive the problem?? Thanks

The water pump is driven by the oil pump shaft. Either the oil pump shaft is not turning or the water pump shaft is broken. Do you have oil pressure? I wouldn't know how to check other than the oil light. It seems like you will have to pull the front cover and do some further investigation.
