Hesitation ,Carbs

my 83 interstate was running great then head gasket went , got it all back together now I have a slight hesitation can not set the idle properly , it is either 500 rpm or 3000 rpm and it seems to be using more gas . any ideas

since you would have had the intake runners off, i would check for a bad seal at one or more of those o-rings. i would also check compression.

+1 on the above, sounds like a vacuum leak to me...
