Hesitation ,Carbs

I have an 83 GL 1100 I had to do head gaskets after I got it back together , I have hesitation can hear it when it is idling and feel it when riding and it will fart and backfire once in a while. My First
thought was a vacuum leak , I replaced the manifold O rings and put shrink-wrap seals on the rubber a top of the manifolds and replaced the air drop down gauges , checked my timing belts got them both right on still have that hesitation and after each repair I have tried , I resynched the carbs . Tomorrow I am going to check the valve settings after that I have no Idea , and my cabs were rebuilt 4 years ago , not sure if this is related but I hit one of my spark plug wires and it came apart where the wire goes into the plastic piece that goes on the plug
